Sulfuric Acid Concentration
The Vacuum Concentration Unit concentrates weak sulfuric acid (H2SO4). The main principle of the process is the evaporation of large amounts of water out of the sulfuric acid.
Multistage units are used to minimize the required amount of heating steam and make use of different boiling temperatures at different pressures. The concentration unit consists of two stages and is suitable for waste acid with low impurities.
In the first concentration stage, sulfuric acid is concentrated from 15 w% to 25 w% in a pressurized unit. The second concentration stage is operated at vacuum, concentrating the acid from 25 w% to a minimum of 65 w%.
